
The
capital of Kachin state is Myitkyina.
It is in the northern part of Myanmar with the area of 88010 sq-km,
and the population is over 1.2 million.
It has many ethnic groups such as Bamar, Kachin (Jimphaw, Rawom,
Lisu, Zaiwa, Lawngaw, Lachyit) and Indians and some Shan.
The main language is Myanmar and all of the people can speak
Myanmar. But Kachin is the main language among Kachin people and
some ethnic people can even speak Kachin. There are many religions
such as Buddhist, Christians, Hindus, Muslim, and Animist. But among
the Kachin people, approximately 97% are christians (mainly Baptist,
and Catholic). Kachin people are known to come down from Tibet long
time ago. Kachin people are now living mainly in Kachin state but
there are some living in China and India.
The world biggest Jade stone with over 250,000 tons had been
discovered in Kachin State. This division is also popular for the
snow capped mountain, Mt-Khagaborazee with over 18400 feet the
highest peak of Himalaya, and the biggest natural lake Indawgyi.
The most interesting time to visit there is during Kachin Manor
Festival which held in third week of December.
